First sessions bring up a natural mix of curiosity and nerves. Here's exactly what to know and do beforehand so you get the most from your first experience.
Before the Session
You don't need extensive family history — bring what you know, and trust the process to work with what's available. Come with a clear, specific issue in mind if possible (a relationship, a decision, a recurring pattern) rather than a vague sense that 'something's wrong.' Avoid heavy meals or caffeine right beforehand; a settled body supports a clearer session.
What to Wear and Bring
Comfortable clothing you can move in. For virtual sessions, a notebook for reflections afterward, a glass of water, and a private space where you won't be interrupted. If attending a group workshop in person, arrive a few minutes early to settle in before we begin.
Managing Nerves
It's completely normal to feel apprehensive, especially if you're not sure what will 'come up.' You are always in control of what you share, and the process doesn't require you to reveal anything you're not ready to. Trust that the pace of the session will match what you can integrate.
After the Session
Give yourself time before jumping back into a demanding schedule if possible. Many clients feel unusually tired, unusually light, or emotionally tender in the hours after — all normal. Drink water, rest if you can, and let insights settle rather than rushing to analyze them immediately.
